WHEN SHOULD AN OWNER’S REPRESENTATIVE BE BROUGHT INTO A PROJECT ?

Executive-Services.com - Dubuis & Bourdeau © Alx - Fotolia.comThere are several answers to this question. Basically, the owner’s representative should become a part of your construction planning team when he can:
• Assist in the selection of the architect and design consultants;
• Assist in selection of the General Contractor;
• Review the architectural plans with the contractor to
• develop a budget
• develop a schedule
• examine cost savings ideas
• plan construction site logistics

An Owner’s Representative should be on board well before the facility committee or board volunteers realize they have taken development of their project as far as their experience and time will allow.

Please note that for new construction, the services of an owner’s representative do not replace the hiring of an architect and a engineer.

When should a project manager be brought into a project? .
